A Jubilee Senator has expressed fury at the comments made by party Vice Chairman David Murathe suggesting lawmakers allied to Deputy President William were fighting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Murathe, Uhuru's right-hand man, on Sunday accused Ruto's allies of being disobedient to the president and undermining his leadership.

"If you are a majority leader and you say you will throw out the name forwarded there by the president, what you are doing is undermining the appointing authority, when you are supposed to be rallying members to support the names the president sends," he said during a function in Githunguri, Kiambu County.

Murathe referred to Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, his National Assembly counterpart Aden Duale and Chief Whip Benjamin Washiali.

But Nandi Senator Aaron Cheruiyot defended his colleagues against the accusations, saying the Vice Chairman was out of order and warned him against commenting on party internal affairs.

"Nobody can even pick out Murathe from a group of Jubilee supporters. You are making a small man to be so huge and giving him a huge title: Uhuru ally," he said.

"David Murathe and his colleagues are just clerks, whose names were given to the Registrar of Political Parties," the Senator added during an interview with NTV on Tuesday.

Cheruiyot said Parliament was independent of the Executive and, therefore, it should not be used as a rubber stamp by the presidency.

"Murathe comes from an archaic school of thought where they confuse government with the president," he stated.

The vocal legislator further asked Jubilee party leadership to listen to the sentiments raised by members and consider them.
