Police officers in Migori county are probing a case where a secondary school student on Saturday committed suicide by hanging himself in Nyanga'o village, Rongo constituency.
The boy who is a Form two student at the St Mary's Nyanga'o Secondary School reportedly took his life following a quarrel with his parents, after they questioned his drinking habit.
Confirming the incident, Rongo OCPD, Peter Kirui said his team has launched investigations, in a bid to establish the actual reason behind the suicide.
Kirui said the deceased's parents have said that he had turned to alcohol and began coming home late in the past few months, after acquiring himself a new set of friends.
He noted that the county has been recording many cases of such in the recent past, most of which are as a result of domestic rows and disagreements.
The OCPD urged residents to shun such behaviours, stressing on the need for them to embrace better forms of conflict resolution to avoid a continuation of the incidences.
The body of the deceased that was found dangling from a tree a few metres from their home has since been taken to the Rosewood Hospital Mortuary awaiting further investigation.
