Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has hit out at the National Assembly for reducing the amount meant to be disbursed to the counties for them to carry out their business at ease.
He said the move is ill-intended and meant to kill devolution.
The National Assembly reduced the money meant for counties from Sh327 million to Sh316 billion.
"MP's should not think that Kenya is for them alone and that they are very special if they say they don't have money where did they get Sh250,000 to pay their house allowance?," asked the Jubilee governor during the official launch of E-passport at the Eldoret Immigration offices on Friday.
He further said that reducing the funds is undermining devolution.
"Where they got their house allowance cash; they should go back there and also give us the devolution cash so that we may work for the electorate effectively," added Mandago.
He, however, said that he expects the National Assembly and the Senate to sit down and agree on the amount of money that will be given to counties.
Mandago advised the Senate not to lie down and accept anything less than the sh 327 billion that is needed.
There has been a fight between the Senate and the National Assembly on the amount of money to be given to counties.
