Reports of guns stolen from a police post in Nandi South as police manning the station watched a football match hit the headlines on Wednesday.
It is reported that the thieves broke into an armoury at Kamorwon Police Post in Nandi county and stole three firearms and 60 rounds of ammunition on Tuesday night.
All this happened as cops allegedly watched the clash between Barcelona and Manchester United in the UEFA champions league quarterfinals match in a nearby trading centre.
Some of the Eldoret residents who were asked by Hivisasa to give their reactions about the bizarre had hilarious responses.
Here are some of their selected responses;
"If thugs can break into a police post to steal, how are we the local mwananchi secure? In Kenya you can find a police station closed at 5 pm due to insecurity," said Monica Njeri, a business lady in Eldoret town.
"It is a double tragedy to the Manchester United fans, losing both the match and the guns," said Joseph Maritim jokingly as his colleagues burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"So the police officer had to rush to a police station to report the matter? It is indeed a lovely time to be alive," remarked Daniels Peter.
"The police officers are lucky the thieves didn't find food, they would have cooked, ate and watched the news," said a lady who sought for anonymity.
The search for the stolen firearms has since begun.
