Jubilee vice-chair David Murathe has escalated his claims that President Uhuru is under no obligation to support Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
According to Murathe, Uhuru and Ruto signed a Memorandum of Understanding on how to govern and share power, and not the president supporting Ruto's candidacy.
"There was never an MoU that said that the president would support the deputy president in 2022. The arrangement in 2013 was for the deputy president to have a share of government and for the president to have a share of government. Now, that happened... If you want there are those agreements and they are there on paper," Murathe said.
He made the 'revelations' that Ruto's allies will find unsettling during an interview with K24 television broadcast on Thursday at his residence.
His pointed remarks come amid an impassioned public debate on whether President Uhuru will honour his pledge to support his deputy.
Murathe made similar remarks in Kakamega during a cultural festival two weeks ago in which he called on Ruto not to seek the presidency as he would not be supported.
Ruto is expected to gun for the presidency in 2022 and has been traversing the country in a bid to endear himself to voters across the country.
