Speaking when he hosted first Lady Margaret Kenyatta in the county on Thursday, Governor Nyong'o requested her to ask the President to run for another term in 2022.

The political scientist claimed that Kenyans are waiting for Uhuru to submit his nomination papers again, though he did not specify the position Uhuru is supposed to run for.

“Kenyans are waiting for him to present his nomination papers again," he is quoted by the Standard.

He added that Kenyans also still need the First Lady and her Beyond Zero campaign which seeks to improve healthcare campaigns, specifically for women.

This comes amid speculations that the nation could end up in a constitutional amendment that could see Uhuru's political life prolonged, especially after his March 9 truce with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Until recently, Uhuru who is on his second and final term constitutionally has demonstrated that he is not interested in another term.

Margaret Kenyatta was accompanied by her visiting Mozambican counterpart Isaura Nyusi, where they launched a free medical caravan.

Governor Nyong'o, a long time ally of Odinga, was accompanied by the county first Lady Dorothy Nyong'o, in the event that attracted hundreds of residents.
