Kisii County senator Sam Ongeri said EACC and the office of the DPP should not succumb to blackmail and intimidation from cartels.

“We don’t want to see public funds ending up into some individuals’ pockets. EACC and the DPP should ensure anyone who engages in corruption is arrested and prosecuted,” he said.

Ongeri reiterated that elected leaders should shun misappropriation of public funds meant for development purposes.

The senator leaders should be at the frontline fighting corruption in this country.

“The electorates should be frustrated by us since they voted for us to represent them at the senate, national assembly and county assemblies.

"We should therefore, serve the electorates with all our hearts and stop engaging in dubious dealings and embezzlement of funds to make wealth,” he noted.

According to Ongeri, government workers and elected leaders should be satisfied with monthly salaries.

He called on President Uhuru Kenyatta not to be afraid in the fight against impunity in the country.

“Mr. Kenyatta should fight corruption until the end even if it is his relatives and friends they must face the law for engaging in corruption,” he added.

He was speaking at Gusii stadium on Saturday.
