Apart from the award, Kapaito also walked home with Sh1m and was also awarded the golden boot accolade for having scored most goals in SPL.

''I'm delighted and thank God for this Award, in addition, I thank my team for according me the opportunity to play with them and my girlfriend for her support during the season," said Kapaito.

Bandari's goalie Farouk Shikhalo had to ward off stiff competition from Sony Sugar's Kevin Omondi and St. Georges Patrick Matasi to take home the Golden Glove with Sh0.5 million prize money after registering 18 clean sheets.

Mathare United's Cliff Nyakeya was crowned the best midfielder after seeing off Ulinzi Stars Elvis Nandwa and Zoo Kericho's Michael Madoya, who finished second and third in that order.

The Slum boy took home KES0.3 M prize money.

Meanwhile, Champions Gor Mahia were feted as the fair play team of the year and their coach Briton Dylan Kerr was named the best coach of the year.
