Washington Jakoyo Midiwo was undoubtedly one of the most vocal members of parliament in the last parliament.
People from all over the country allied to opposition loved him for how he courageous defended the opposition and its leader Raila Odinga and very few knew he was the Gem Member of Parliament.

He also had the unique ability to pull huge crowds in a political rally something that a few Nyanza politicians have.
Midiwo who also doubled up as the deputy minority leader had a credible sense of humour geared towards his political strategies and push for development programmes.
He narrowly lost to Elisha Odhiambo in the 2017 general elections but his popularity in Gem, Nyanza and Kenya as a whole is not something that can wither away easily.
He had a passion for devolution and his involvement in politics would be of a huge positive output.
He was once a member of House Business Committee, the Joint Committee on Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library and the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade.
All these house committees banked on him for major parliamentary addresses and articulation of major issues.
