It was pomp and colour at the Eldo Baraka school in Eldoret as pupils, teachers and parents celebrated their best ever results in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations since the inception of the school.

The best pupil at the private school, James Machar scored 436 marks.

Angelica Anyango, the second best pupil at the school who scored 425 said it was through hard work and determination that she emerged among the best.

“I am happy for being among the best students. I did not expect the results but through parents, teachers and students' support I managed to be the best,” said Anyango who expects to join Alliance girls and thereafter be a doctor. 

Jooh Juach, a pupil at the school with a South Sudanese origin who scored 416 marks said the good performance did not come easily.

She hopes to Pangani Girls and be an engineer in future. 

“Our first student got 436 marks while the last one had 270 marks. We had a population of 34 students who sat for the exams in 2018,” said Eldo Baraka school Director Doris Khatete.

The school had a mean score of 350 marks compared to last years' 348.

She noted that their target next year is to have a mean score of 350 marks and above and also having more pupils scoring 400 marks and above.
