A man has been sentenced to death after he was found guilty of killing two children in Nandi County.
Appearing before Eldoret High Court Judge Helen Omondi on Friday, Cleopas Kipeketer Keino was found guilty of killing the two boys in 2008.
The court heard that the convict killed Emmanuel Kibet (7) and Abel Kipkorir (3) at Kabwareng Village in Nandi County on April 28 of the mentioned year.
In his defense, Keino denied the murder charges stating that the children were killed by their mother Ms. Monica Mutai whom he claimed was his lover at the time.
He claimed that Ms. Mutai invited him to her house only to hurl a machete at them following a disagreement, then proceeded to heap the blame on him.
Keino said he managed to flee as the lady yelled that he had killed her children, claims the judge threw out his narrative siding with the prosecution.
"The evidence on record proves the charge against the accused. I find the accused guilty as charged," Justice Omondi said.
Ms. Mutai contradicted the accused's narrative stating that he ambushed her and the boys at a maize plantation before slashing the boys.
Keino has been in remand for the last 11 years, he has 14 days to appeal the ruling.
