ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya's Saturday trip to Nyamira has elicited sharp debate from among followers with some now rooting for his presidential bid.
Upon arrival in the company of 15 MCAs from Kakamega County, Oparanya was ushered in by Governor John Nyagarama before traversing the vast Nyamira County
His first stopover was at Nyabite SDA church before travelling another 20km to meet worshippers at Motagara SDA church where hundreds cheered him on.
"I have come to Nyamira for the first time and I am really happy. Very good people with good heart. I am humbled," he told worshippers.
Thereafter, Oparanya hosted local ODM leaders among them area county assembly leadership under Majority Leader Duke Masira at Damside Hotel
Along the way, Oparanya's motorcade was cheered by curious onlookers as he traversed West Mugirango and Borabu constituencies.
"We must ensure they (Ruto's camp) are locked out completely. They have no agenda and it's the grassroot leadership that can help us thwart their moves," he told official.
Mr Oparanya's trip comes barely a week after DP William Ruto traversed the entire Gusii region as 2022 politics take shape.
