This follows his recent move to free bodaboda riders who had been arrested by police officers manning a roadblock along Kapenguria Lodwar Road.

The Kitale High Court on Monday issued an order protecting Lonyangapuo from arrest, detention of prosecution in court.

'‘I hereby grant the applicant the orders sought pending the hearing of the case. The respondents are restrained from taking action against him,’’ Judge Hillary Chemitei ruled as is quoted by the Standard.

The Governor on November 28 removed a roadblock along the road near Safari Hotel, accusing the police of harassing innocent citizens.

He condemned the police for allegedly handcuffing the suspect against his motorbike, in what was going to earn him (the Governor) charges of aiding a suspect escape from lawful custody.

The court also ordered for the reinstatement of his security detail which has since been withdrawn from him and his residence.

Lonyangapuo who moved to court seeking protection from his looming arrest and prosecution was accompanied by County Assembly Speaker Joyce Mukenyang’ and Majority Leader Thomas Ngolesia during the confrontation.

The case will be heard on December 13.
