President Uhuru Kenyatta's chief campaigning from Nyamira Mr Walter Nyambati, has for the first time recognised Governor John Nyagarama's leadership, 17 months into 2017 polls.
Nyambati, who served as Kitutu Masaba MP from 2007-13, moved to court in September 2017, after losing narrowly to Governor John Nyagarama of ODM in closely contested polls.
But High Court sitting in Nyamira dismissed his petition. Months later, the petition suffered a similar fate at Appeals Court in Kisumu. Supreme Court of Kenya could not save him as well in March 2019.
"It was such a pleasure to run against Nyagarama. I am happy that it's now over. I am ready to work with him so that we can steer development in our county. We must now be honest for the sake of our people," he said.
Mr Nyambati added: "The governor must now think about his legacy. I know he's not a thief but most of his employees have drained our county. I urge him to sack those involved in mass corruption."
During the Friday meeting at Rigoma, Mr Nyambati shared podium for the first time with Governor John Nyagarama and former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, who is keen to succeed Nyagarama.
At the event, Nyagarama hailed Nyambati for the support, adding that all leaders are free to consult with his administration for the sake of improving living standards of the people.
"I want to thank you for your kindness. Let's now work together as a team and steer development for the people. I will be happy to leave Nyamira a great place than I found it," he said.
