The irate students demanded to know progress that has been made in investigations into the matter with the driver responsible still at large.

Magadi Road which leads to the higher learning institutions was blocked with stones.

According to eyewitness reports, the driver took to his heels after hitting the student, currently undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Law enforcement officers took the bus and launched a manhunt for the driver who is yet to be apprehended.

The police, who donned anti-riot gear, engaged in running battles with the angry students in the morning and were able to restore order.

At the time of writing this story, there was still a heavy police presence at the university to prevent outbreak of protests.

Police officers had a tough time as they had to contend with stones hurled their way.

The administration of the university is yet to issue a statement on the morning protests.

Students have threatened to take to the streets again in the coming weeks unless the driver who caused the accident is arrested and arraigned in a court of law.
