“It will be proper practice if the Judge excuses himself from hearing the matter because he has already shown bias,” said Kabogo in an interview with a local radio station on Wednesday.

Kabogo said that every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, adding that Jowie’s case is not different.

During the bail ruling for journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiance Jowie, who were both charged with the murder of Monica Kimani, Justice Wakiaga described Jowie as a 'woman eater’.

"The picture that emerges from the prosecution's evidence as set out herein above, and that the bail report of the accused, is that he is a male version of a slay queen. Which for lack of better terminology, I will call a woman eater,” said Justice Wakiaga.

Wakiaga went on to deny Jowie bail, stating that his love for guns could intimidate and interfere with witnesses if he is released on bail.

The Judge also stated that Jowie is a flight risk and could abscond court sessions if released.

Maribe, however, was released on Sh1 million cash bail.

The trial will commence in June, next year.
