Mbae wants the county government to screen cancer, diabetes, hypertension and other chronic diseases in all wards annually.

According to the MCA, this will help address challenges that always come about with patients not going for screening early.

The motion is now scheduled for debate by members.

“This afternoon I have tabled a motion in the county assembly that will see county government develop a comprehensive program for comprehensive screening of cancer, diabetes, hypertension and other chronic diseases in all wards annually,” said Dr Mbae.

The World Health Organization recently indicated that in 2018, 9.6 million people died of cancer.

The findings also reveal that one in five men and one in six women develop cancer during their lifetime while one in eight men and one in 11 women die from the disease.
