Narok lawmaker Ledama Ole Kina expressed his love for the country and wished Kenyans would give him a chance to serve them at the country's most powerful office.

But before then, Ledama said he was determined to serve 'diligently' residents of Narok County who voted for him overwhelmingly in 2013. He remained optimistic they will reelect him in the next polls.

"I love this country so much! I love my job which I was given by over 126,000 Narok County residents! I shall endeavour to do it diligently and pray that in 10 years time Kenyans can give me an opportunity to serve them as the president of this great nation of Kenya," he tweeted on Tuesday.

The outspoken Senator, who is a close ally of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, came to the limelight during Mau Forest complex debate where he strongly advocated for eviction of settlers encroaching the water tower.

At one time he landed in trouble when was summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on incitement allegations.

Before he ventured into politics Ledama was working in the United States of America where he also schooled.

During his stay abroad, the vocal Senator played a significant role in promoting education in Narok through his foundation, the Maasai Education Discovery.

He has been likened to former Cabinet Minister and Maasai kingpin William Ole Ntimama due to his strong stand on matters close to his heart.

“Like Ntimama, he is abrasive and not a fence sitter when it comes to issues affecting the community,”  Jackson Saika, the national chairman of Maasai Professionals Association told the Standard in a past interview.

Ledama joins his ODM colleague and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who has also declared interest in the 2027 race to State House.
