Latest details indicate that Kiamaindi village in Tharaka Nithi county, is currently a deserted area where only police officers and journalists reign.
Locals have taken off following the deployment of General Service Unit (GSU) officers to flush out suspects in the killing of Chief Japheth Mayau, and Chuka OCS Joseph Kinyua.
Left behind are deserted homesteads and livestock, with all trading centers remaining closed as has been the case since Wednesday.
Two police officers were the only people seen at Mbaria Market on Sunday, with Ntumbara and Murigi primary schools remaining deserted after pupils fled with their parents.
Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor Nyamu Kagwima has called upon officers handling the operation to assure innocent villagers of their security.
He has confirmed that the entire location is at a standstill as a result of the operation.
"All activities have been paralysed in almost the entire location. Security bosses need to assure villagers of their security so that they can return to their homes and continue with their normal activities," he was quoted by the Nation.
Mayau was allegedly lynched by irate villagers on Tuesday, as they sought to avenge a fellow villager reportedly murdered by his brother and buried near Thuci river.
On Wednesday, the OCS was reportedly killed while attempting to arrest one of the murder suspects, David Ikaaba, at his butchery in Embu.
