Locals in Kisii county have been advised against seeking courts intervention whenever they disagree on various issues.
Kisii governor James Ongwae while speaking when he officially opened the Kisii Courts open day on Tuesday said while seeking for justice, members of the public need to solve disputes out of the courts.
"I appeal to the public to always seek an alternative justice system to solve disputes. Through arbitration and mediation, litigants are able to reduce the cost of court processes besides helping restore interpersonal relations and communal harmony. Equally, I urge members of the public to embrace reformed ex-convicts who are released from prison and help them reunite with the community," said Ongwae.
He also expressed concerns that lack of adequate facilities at Kisii high court makes cases to take too long to end for residents to get justice.
Ongwae, however, said his administration has already offered a piece of land for expansion of the Law Court.
"The county government has offered land for the construction of a new Court at Etago and the expansion or relocation of Ogembo law courts," he noted.
