Speaking on Saturday during a funeral at his Shibale backyard in Kakamega County, Echesa asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to tell Kenyans why he was dislodged from his post in the cabinet.

He noted that he has not been involving in corruption or anything that could lead to his sacking. The CS, who was replaced by former Education CS Amina Mohammed, insisted that he is clean.

“If I have stolen anything belonging to any person, let the President tell Kenyans,” he said , as quoted by Daily Nation.

He also said that the law outlines the procedures the head of State needs to follow when an official in government is involved in graft-related case.

Echesa, who is being investigated over money laundering, insisted that he was a sacrificial lamb following the handshake between Uhuru and African Union High Representative on Infrastructure Development Raila Amolo Odinga.

Before his dismissal, Echesa was daring Raila, who has since vowed to work with Uhuru, to fire him from office. The firing of Echesa has caused a storm in Jubilee.

A section of Jubilee leaders have been faulting Uhuru for what they term as betrayal after DP Ruto stood with during all this period.

Led by Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, the leaders now want Uhuru to declare his before 2022.

Others in Ruto’s camp are Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
