Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet has been put on alert by Teso North MP Oku Kaunya after shootings witnessed at Malakisi on the border of Teso North and Sirisia constituencies.
Kaunya called on Boinnet to transfer all officers attached to Malakisi police station.
In a tweet, the MP, who served as the Deputy AP commandant in the country and Commandant of APTC and currently serving as a committee member for Security and national administration in the National Assembly, called on the police IG to address insecurity in the area.
"I condemn the Malakisi shooting spree that claimed lives of our people. I call upon residents to be very vigilant and report incidences of insecurity to the police authorities for action. If the police fail to act together with Hon.Waluke we will petition the IG over laxity," Kaunya twitted.
The MP said earlier this year bandits from Mt Elgon raided Malakisi area and killed people in a similar fashion.
"Following the shootings, and the bad working relation the officers attached to Malakisi Police station have had with the locals, I call upon the Inspector General of Police to effect the transfer of officers in order to restore sanity in the region," he said.
