The late Kenya's Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) died on September 8, after a short illness.

He rose from an Education Secretary to a Permanent Secretary in 2013, taking over from Professor James Ole Kiyiapi.

Godia also served as the director and board member at the Central Bank of Kenya and also a member of National Task Force to review Maritime Laws.

Below is Mudavadi's condolence message:

"I grieve with the family of the late Prof Godia.

The unexpected death of my teacher and confidant has traumatised me.

Prof Godia was an exceptional and renowned educationalist who rose from high school teacher to a Varsity Don.

Because of his diligence I appointed him among the founding members of the CBK Board.

Godia later became Kenya's director of education and promptly became the PS.

Only lately Godia was Kenya's permanent representative to UNESCO based in Paris.

Hon. Musalia Mudavadi

ANC party leader and NASA Founder."

George Imbaga Godia, a former Moi University lecturer obtained his PhD in education and International relations in 1981.
