An elected Member of Parliament in Nyamira County has distanced himself from Deputy President Willim Ruto's tanga tanga team.

Borabu Member of Parliament Ben Momanyi said he can't be part of a squad that does not support President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga's historic handshake. 

According to the lawmaker, leaders who don't support Uhuru-Raila unity are not welcome in Nyamira County,

He regretted that a section of local leaders who have joined Tanga Tanga team won't may not win elections in future.

"I will not join the team which is opposing unity among Kenyans. 'Tanga Tanga' team members comprises confused people who will find it hard to seek votes from the electorates in 2022," he said. 

Momanyi suggested that any 'Tanga Tanga' movement meeting in Nyamira county should not be allowed.

The vocal lawmaker allied to opposition coalition claimed that MPs who have joined the tanga tanga team are targeting to cause divisions among Kenyans.

"The team of MPs associated with DP William Ruto are only out to oppose graft war and cause political division in this country," he said. 

He was speaking on Saturday after attending a fund drive at Nyansiongo.
