Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi has hinted the National Super Alliance (NASA) will form the government in 2022 whether on its own or through a coalition with like-minded partners.
Speaking in Busia on Sunday where he joined Christians at Igara Spiritual Ministries for a funds drive in aid of the church’s completion, the MP said there is no more guesswork in the opposition's bid to take over the country’s leadership.
Wandayi dismissed claims by critics of NASA that the coalition is headed for disintegration following the famous handshake between NASA leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"After the handshake, there were some small worries but the scenario has since changed," he said.
"I am happy that talks are going on between other co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka. Soon NASA will come out strong contrary to skeptics. Alignments ahead of 2022 is beginning to take shape. As a coalition, we should also strategise."
Wandayi said it is very encouraging to hear that the Busia County Government has an elected Member of the County Assembly on a Wiper ticket.
"That’s the way to go as we solidify the coalition," he said.
Busia Women representative, Florence Mutua said the handshake had brought peace and cohesion in the country urging leaders to cultivate the spirit of togetherness.
