President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday reshuffled his Cabinet which saw Echesa fired.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala in an exclusive interview with Hivisasa on Friday said Echesa’s sacking was a big blow to the people of Western Kenya.

“As people from Western province, we are saddened by iybecause we have lost one of our own – Echesa- in the Sports docket,” said Malala.

He opined that the docket was very crucial in shaping the lives of many youths from Western Kenya and the whole country by extension.

“It was a strategic docket to help the Kenyan youths and more specifically youth from Western province and, therefore, we feel that we have wasted that chance and it's going in the history of Kenya that the youth are not capable of handling such responsibilities," he added.

Malala, however, hailed Uhuru’s Cabinet reshuffle saying he has faith in the people who have been appointed.

He cited that CS Amina Mohammed who has been moved to the Sports ministry from the Education has performed well, and will still deliver in her new docket.

Uhuru in the new changes appointed the Kenya National Examination Council chairman Prof George Magoha to head the Education docket.
