Supporters of Migori Governor Okoth Obado have hit out at the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji for approving Obado’s prosecution.
The supporters who turned up at the Milimani courts in solidarity with the governor accused the DPP of charging Obado wrongly.
According to the supporters, Obado is clean and should be released.
“The DPP should stop rubber-stamping prosecution of people who are innocent,” a supporter who sought anonymity said.
He claimed that Obado could not kill a person he admitted to have been in love with.
“The DPP and the police should go after the people who killed Sharon and set out governor free,” another supporter who sought anonymity said.
The supporters said that Migori people are offended by DPP’s move to arrest an innocent person.
“We are telling the DPP and the police to give us our governor and hunt down the student's killers,” supporter only identified Opondo said.
Obado was arraigned in court on Monday and charged with Sharon’s murder.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded at the Industrial Area prison pending his bail hearing on Tuesday.
The DPP has called for the arrest of all suspects adversely mentioned in the Sharon’s brutal murder.
