The county boss is being accused of having a hand in the death of slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

He has, however, denied all allegations leveled against him.

With his political future on the line, this is the right time for Obado to resign.

The former Rapogi high school teacher has been in the news for over two weeks now since Ms Otieno’s body was discovered in Kodera forest, Homabay county early this month.

The entire spotlight has been on him and his family. His wife, children and anyone close to him must be going through a difficult time.

By announcing his resignation, the attention will slowly but surely shift away from him and his family.

This will in turn give him an ample time to fight off claims of being involved in the murder of Ms Otieno, in the court of law.

Secondly, Obado’s resignation will give his deputy Nelson Mahanga Mwaita the authority and power to take charge of Migori County affairs.

A section of residents from the county have been quoted indicating that they have not seen their governor for close to three weeks now.

His absence is without doubt affecting service delivery in the vast cosmopolitan county.
