The son, 18-year-old Bernard Mutua was a student at Maiani Secondary School in Mukaa in Kilome constituency.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate died on Monday evening after reportedly being kicked in the abdomen while fighting on Saturday.

He would later develop complications on Monday evening, after which he was put on painkillers by the school and rushed to the Kilome Nursing Home.

He was treated at the facility and referred to the Makindu-Sub-County Hospital where he died.

According to Makindu Sub-County medical superintendent, the student succumbed to his condition before medics could operate on him. He added that attempts to stabilise him were also futile.

“He showed unstable vital signs and he couldn’t be administered with any drugs before surgical operations and at this juncture, the team decided to stabilise his state once again,” the doctor is quoted by the Nation.

On his side, Mukaa OCPD noted that investigations have since been launched to establish the cause of the death.

"I have instructed the area Deputy County Commissioner and the police to do thorough investigations on what caused the student’s death.

If it’s natural death, we say sorry but if it’s something beyond that we will make sure justice is done for the family,” he is quoted.
