The brothers lost their lives after the quarry's wall collapsed on them in Nguluni on Friday.

According to Nguluni Chief Johnbosco Ndambuki, the two in their middle ages were working in the quarry when the tragedy struck.

Ndambuki said the incident could have been caused by the heavy rains experienced in the area on Thursday night.

"It's a village called Kalie. I received a call from a resident notifying me that two people had been buried alive by a wall at the quarries, I rushed to the scene," Ndambuki said.

He spoke to this writer on the phone on Friday.

Ndambuki said one of the men died on the spot while the other when receiving treatment at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital.

"Residents rushed to the scene to save the two men. After they were able to remove them, one was already dead while the other gave up the ghost in hospital," he said.

The bodies were removed to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital's mortuary.

Ndambuki warned residents to keep off quarries this rainy season to avoid such tragedies.

He said the walls have become weak due to the pounding rains.
