Kenyans have been reacting to media reports that Laikipia County Women Rep Catherine Waruguru was humiliated at a Kericho hotel.
According to her, she was asked to produced a marriage certificate which did not have and thrown out of the hotel.
Women in Garissa County have largely stood with the MP and accused the hotel administration was discriminating against women.
"I am sure if it was a man, he would be granted admittance to the hotel. The MP was humiliated because she is a woman," Habiba Amina says.
"The government should take action against the hotel. That was unacceptable," Salma Hassan says.
"For God's sakes, she is an MP and she deserved better and not what she got," Jasmine Burale says.
"That kind of discrimination has to come to a stop. We are an independent country," Faridah Ali says.
The hotel, identified as the new Sunshine Hotel, has a policy of not allowing unmarried individuals or individuals with no proof of marriage access to its accommodation facilities.
There is a plaque on one of its walls that makes that policy clear to those visiting.
