The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership has said the party will continue protecting its votes in future elections, using its die-hard supporters.
Speaking on Sunday, ODM national chairman John Mbadi said the same technique will be used going forward after the party secured an impressive win in the Kibra poll.
Speaking at a fundraiser in Busia, the Suba South MP rubbished claims from among others, Deputy President William Ruto, that the party unleashed terror in Kibra.
“Only those who were caught on camera were violent. Us we carried brains to Kibra and remained peaceful to the end," he said.
According to Mbadi, Ruto is using the claims to soothe himself after his preferred candidate lost to ODM's Imran Okoth.
"After losing the seat, they said their percentage had gone up, but that did not sell. They then shifted to the imaginary narrative that there was violence in the Kibra mini-polls,” he added.
He was accompanied by MPs; Christine Ombaka (Siaya), Florence Mutua (Busia), Otiende Amollo (Rarieda) and Walter Owino (Awendo).
Otiende Amollo defended Kibra residents who were seen roughing up among others, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa.
He said the residents were right to confront those who engaged in voter bribery, using citizen arrest which is within their rights.
