A family in Keroka, Nyamira County are mourning the death of a class one pupil who died after he was allegedly pierced by his classmate using a sewing needle.
The deceased, Nyangeresi Osiemo, died at Nyamira hospital on Thursday where he was rushed for treatment after being attacked with a sewing needle.
Confirming the incident, Nyamira County commissioner Amos Mariba said the attacker, whose identity could not be revealed due to security reasons was playing on the road on their way home from school in the company of the deceased on Wednesday when the incident happened.
"Osiemo was leaving school with the suspect to their homes when the suspect collected a sewing needle on the road which he used to pierce the deceased from the back," said the county security boss.
Mariba said the deceased started bleeding nonstop after the piercing.
"Members of the public who found Osiemo crying in pain on the road bleeding rushed him to Nyamira hospital for treatment. The victim died while receiving treatment," he added.
The commissioner said the body of the deceased was moved to the hospital's morgue.
He said already the suspect and his mother has recorded a statement at Keroka police station.
