Migori County Governor Okoth Obado has a new lifestyle where he is taking his supper at 3pm.
Away from his usual comfort that comes with his VIP status, the county chief is now subjected to a squalor life of inmates where only the strong survive.
Obado was arrested on Friday over the murder of Sharon Otieno and locked at Gigiri police station.
“I can confirm verbally that Mheshimiwa, the prisoner in our custody is here, well and in good health. He, however, says it is true that life in a police cell is difficult.” Gigiri OCPD Richard Mwangi said.
The police boss made it clear that despite the suspect being a member of the rich and influential class in society, when behind the bars all animals are equal.
“We are not giving him any preferential treatment different from other prisoners. He is in custody and all prisoners here are treated equally,” Mwangi added.
The governor is expected to face the court on Monday and be charged with the murder of the university girl.
Sharon, who was seven months pregnant with the governor’s son, was found killed on September 4 after being abducted the previous day.
