Mr. and Miss Moi University event finally went down on Friday night at the student’s centre after two years of waiting.
The evening rain did little to interfere with the event as students came out in large numbers to witness the annual fashion event.
Models were judged by three judges. Representing Moi University on the judging panel was former Mr Culture and founder of Alpha Lifestyle company Jeff Stuart. Second on the panel was Mr Kenyatta University and also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stowell Ink company Steven Stowell. Finally representing the ladies was Miss Africa International Kenya and former Miss Kenya World Next top model Hellen Mwanzia.
Some of the fashion icons who were in attendance included former Miss Moi University Eve Wangari, Mr Culture Moi University John Barack, Crotchet designer Wairimu K.E among others.
Before even the event begun, it was evident the expectations were high.
“Tonight I expect to see creativity, uniqueness and confidence among the models. They have to put their best foot forward on the runway as the two ultimate models will be the face of the university,” Wairimu K.E, a crotchet designer noted.
The models competed in five categories; Casual wear, Professional wear, culture wear, creative wear and dinner wear. After the five rounds of the tight completion and a question and answer session, the hard decision was left in the hands of the judges.
The big announcement was made at around 6:00 a.m. Janmax Otieno and Maureen Kange’the both of whom are second-year students were crowned Mr. and Miss Moi University 2018/19.
All eyes will now be on the two models for the next one year as they will not only be considered the top fashion icons in the school, but also the face of the university.
