Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has once again found himself at the receiving end after his remarks on Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
According to the COTU boss, DP Ruto’s name will not be on the ballot box in the upcoming 2022 general elections. His remarks have elicited mixed reactions countrywide.
Politicians allied to DP Ruto and their supporters have slammed Atwoli over his utterances.
Speaking while attending a function on Sunday in Kakamega County, Deputy President William Ruto responded to Atwoli by linking him to witchcraft.
“There are two groups, those who believe in God and those who believe in witchcraft. When you hear someone say that he has been told by the witchcraft that this person is on the ballot while this other one will not make it to the ballot, then know where Kenya is headed to,” DP Ruto said.
Atwoli’s remarks ignited the ongoing political debate between deputy president William Ruto’s confidants and those allied to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga over the handshake between the former prime minister and president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Atwoli on his part declared his support for ODM Deputy Party leader and Mombasa Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Here is the video detailing DP Ruto's response to Atwoli.
