Former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara has protested hike in fuel prices. The former lawmaker stated that Kenyans are being exploited by hiking fuel prices.

"The government is stealing directly from Kenyans by hiking fuel prices. It is time President Uhuru Kenyatta should act and ensure the fuel prices comes down," he said.

The PDP party leader condemned Finance Cabinet secretary Henry Rotich for rushing to implement the 16 per cent VAT on petroleum products. 

Mr. Magara, who chairs Center for Multiparty Democracy said if fuel prices won't come down, matatu operators will start overcharging passengers. 

"Passengers will be forced to dig deep into their pockets for them to travel if the government won't bring down the fuel prices. President Uhuru Kenyatta should even make a phone call from abroad to have the fuel prices brought down immediately," he stated. 

Magara blamed the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta with NASA leader Raila Odinga for the hiked fuel prices. 

The former Kisii County senator aspirant said Kenya Revenue Authority management should be blamed for poor revenue collection leading to hiked prices of essential commodities. 

He was speaking on Tuesday in Kisii town.
