Kasipul MP Ong'ondo Were allegedly directed goons that attacked one Mr Kenneth Jabuya at a hotel in Oyugis, after which two of the goons were attacked by the public and one killed.

Nyanza regional Police Commander Vincent Makokha confirmed the same, saying that four other suspects have been arrested, while the MP has gone into hiding.

"We have already arrested four people in connection with the incident, and we are now looking for the MP who has gone into hiding," he was quoted by the Standard.

The gang was reportedly ushered into the hotel by area MP Charles Were who went ahead, leaving Jabuya, a polytechnic professor in Homa Bay, to be assaulted.

Jabuya who lost alot of blood in the ordeal is currently admitted at the RAM Hospital in Kisii, with doctors saying that he lost a lot of blood.

“We have done blood transfusion but still we are doing more to recover the lost blood,” RAM patron Joseph Otende said.

Were has however distanced himself from the incident, saying that despite being at the hotel, he never witnessed the said incident, adding that he is ready to record a statement with the police.

"We can be together but whatever the characters did was their personal decision. It is true I was in the hotel but didn’t know that some people had been attacked until I was informed by the management," he said.
