This was after his fellow panelist and nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura lightly jibed him for wearing collarless shirts which are common in China, after Amollo aired his dislike for the Chinese operations in the nation on NTV's AM Live  on Tuesday morning.

But in a rejoinder, the skilled lawyer first revealed that the shirts remind him that Kenyans are still held by the collars by their rulers and foreigners, hence his decision to avoid them.

''I do not wear collared shirts because they remind me that we are still held by the collar,'' he said, laughing.

He further poked holes into the narrative on the origin of the shirts, noting that they actually originated from Eastern Europe before being widely adopted by the Asians.

''These kind of shirts did not originate from China but Eastern Europe. The Chinese only promulgated them,'' said the former Ombudsman.

This comes at a time when the Chinese government is facing accusations of cleverly attempting to overturn the initial influence enjoyed by Europe and the United States in Kenya and many parts of the African continent.

China is the single biggest creditor to Kenya and is the force and sponsor behind most of the nation's mega projects.
