Muthama wants ODM to accept defeat once it is floored in the April 5 by-election.

Speaking when he led campaigns for Julius Mawathe in Embakasi South on Friday, Muthama exuded much confidence that Wiper will clinch the seat.

The former Senator claimed that Embakasi South seat is a reserve for Wiper, adding that ODM should forget about it.

He said that Raila’s party is no longer popular in the area and that Mawathe will easily clinch the seat.

“We plan to ensure that our candidate Julius Mawathe wins the seat by 8 AM on April 5 and ODM should be ready to accept defeat,” Muthama said.

He asked residents to come out in large numbers and vote for Mawathe.

Muthama described Mawathe as a people friendly and development oriented leader.

"We want to you (Embakasi South locals)  to pick a leader who will not disappoint you by the time his term comes to an end,” he said.

Muthama has for the past one week pitched camp in Embakasi South leading Mawathe’s campaigns.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is expected in the constituency on Sunday to campaign for Mawathe.

The Embakasi seat was declared vacant after the Supreme Court nullified Mawathe’s election on grounds that it was not free and fair.

Mawathe is expected to battle out with ODM’s Mohammed Sumra and other candidates in the April 5 mini- poll.

Political analyst Peter Ngure has described the Embakasi South by-election a two-horse race between Mawathe and Sumra.
