Uasin Gishu Senator Prof Margaret Kamar has once again raised concern on the need of women to stand out and fight for opportunities with men.
The soft-spoken senator hosted nominated women senators from the North Rift in Eldoret on Friday afternoon.
The forum centred towards empowering women to take up the mantle and create opportunities for themselves.
“Nothing good just happens from nowhere, even me I did not just wake up and became a senator: it was long journeys full all hurdles but I managed,” noted senator Kamar.
She added that it is possible for more women to get into leadership positions if they fight for them seriously.
Nominated senator Milicent Omanga also echoed Prof.Kamar,s sentiments by saying that women should scramble for positions with their male colleagues.
The senators vowed to keep pushing for the two-thirds gender rule in both the national assembly and the Senate.
The function was graced by a number of dignitaries from the North Rift.
Prof Kamar insisted that everyone has the potential to make a difference in life and noted that fear and negative attitude are major setbacks to most women and young to cream minds.
The senators promised to hold more similar forums in the near future.
