Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut has described embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu as 'incurably dumb'.
Waititu was arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) after they conducted raids in his homes on Thursday morning.
Reacting to the raid, Chepkut revisited the incident when Waititu argued that instead of demolishing buildings on riparian land, rivers should be relocated, to 'justify' that Waititu was unschooled, and, therefore, unfit to be governor.
"Ferdinand Waititu is the personification of what we call being incurably dumb. A Governor who once thought that the solution to encroachment into riparian land is to relocate rivers!" he tweeted.
"Folks, there is a reason why certain positions should be held by people who've gone to school," he added.
According to a statement released by EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, Waititu is suspected of awarding irregular tenders worth Sh588 million, money laundering among other crimes.
Mbarak said the agency is in possession of valuable evidence after conducting intensive searches at various places.
“As part of the ongoing investigation, search operations were conducted by EACC on May 23, 2019 in the homes and offices of the Kiambu County Governor, his family members, directors of private companies and ten senior employees of the county government,” read part of the statement.
