Changamwe Member of Parliament Omar Mwinyi has criticized youths in the constituency after they failed to turn up for the National Youth Service (NYS) recruitment conducted last week.
Speaking on Saturday at Changamwe, Mwinyi said it is unfortunate that youths in the area snubbed an opportunity that could have changed their lives.
He noted that youths should take advantage of any government opportunity to uplift their lives.
"Many of you don't know the benefits of NYS. A part from discipline, youths who are there receive skills and get to do various courses that will earn them jobs in future.
"There's no way anyone can get out empty handed. A lot of people are fighting for the chances but you chose not to go for the recruitment," he added.
He advised youths in the constituency to take advantage of the gazetted census jobs.
"There is a census job recruitment that is ongoing at chiefs offices for positions like supervisors, enumerators and others. I would urge youths to apply and benefit. Don't wait until it's over, then you start complaining," he said.
