Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro has praised former Governor William Kabogo, saying he pushed for serious development projects during his tenure.
Nyoro said Kabogo registered key successes in healthcare, youth empowerment, infrastructure and public participation.
He pointed out that Kiambu was voted the best county in terms of healthcare in 2016, under the leadership of Kabogo.
Speaking to journalists in Limuru on Monday, the Deputy Governor, however, said that Kabogo lacked good public relations skills that saw him rejected on the ballot in the 2017 general election.
"He did everything for Kiambu people in terms of development but the only thing he lacked was good public relations skills," Nyoro said.
Nyoro said that Kabogo would have easily been re-elected in 2017 if he had a good relationship with Kiambu residents, especially women.
"The only thing that let him down was the fact that he was arrogant towards the Kiambu people," said Nyoro.
Nyoro said that it will be difficult for the current regime to break the development record Kabogo set unless they work together.
Kabogo lost his seat to Governor Ferdinand Waititu in 2017.
The flamboyant politician was defeated by Waititu in the Jubilee party nominations forcing him to contest for the gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate.
There are claims that Kabogo is planning to make a political comeback in 2022.
