Former Egesa FM's host cum politician Doris Donya Aburi, alias Donya Toto, has landed a government job after losing in the Kisii women representative race during last year's general elections.
As gazetted on Friday in the State Corporation Act Cap 446, the Cabinet Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation Mwangi Kiunjuri appointed the former vernacular radio presenter, and six others, to be members of the South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited board for a period of three years.
"The Cabinet Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation appoints Doris Donya Aburi, Jared K'Opiyo, Thomas Mwita Nyangi, James Mugunda Gitonga, Agnes Busienei, Daniel Seitani, Winnie Njuguna to be members of the board of South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited for a period of 3 years," read part of the Gazette notice.
Donya, sho is an alumnus of Consolata Institute of Technology in Nyeri, last year left her journalism job to vie for the women representative seat in Kisii under a Jubilee ticket. She, however, lost to Janet Ong'era who cliched the seat on an ODM ticket.
The former vernacular presenter was among the Jubilee politicians who spearheaded President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaign across the county.
A section of residents in the county had earlier appealed to the President to reward her by giving her a government job.
