A man in Chebilat, Nyamira County is yet to come to terms after his wife abandoned him with their 2-months-old infant on Wednesday.
Andrew Osaso who works at a local hotel in the area said he sent his wife Emily Gesare money to come and visit him only to end up abandoning the infant with him.
"My wife arrived at Chebilat from the village today when neighbours faked stories and told her that I have been living with another woman. The fake stories angered her and prompted her to abandon the innocent infant with me," he said.
Osaso said he has never fallen in love with another woman apart from her wife.
"I personally have never slept with another woman. I don't know why my neighbors could set me up to make my daughter to suffer because she is breastfeeding," he noted.
He appealed to his wife to return so that they can continue living in peace.
A local administrator Ken Ombaki assured that Gesare is being traced to her parents' home in Magwagwa.
"Gesare will be arrested and be taken to court to be charged over child negligence to serve as an example to women giving birth to abandon their infants," he said.
He asked Osaso to volunteer the names of his neighbors who incited Gesare to abandon the infant for legal action to be taken against them.
