Despite losing narrowly to Anyang' Nyong’o in the 2017 gubernatorial race, Jack Ranguma is undoubtedly still vital in Kisumu County as far as development is concerned.

The first governor of Kisumu County holds a Master of Science (International Accounting and Management Information Systems) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He has experience in managing finances.

Before he ventured into politics, he had worked as an accountant for close to 30 years.

He worked in high profile firms including quasi-government, BDO international and KRA.

Therefore his contribution to Kisumu’s social, political and economic development programs is still much needed.

Majority of the projects he pioneered were yet to be completed by the end of his first term.

Thus he should be on the forefront working with the current county government to provide relevant direction and advice on how to foster some development programs.

He has excellent skills in tax policy, revenue forecasting, restructuring and reconstruction, project management and economic development.

He should not remain in political bedrooms for long but should come on the forefront and aid in ideology as far as fostering development programs in Kisumu County is concerned.

Putting into the context that that was his first political position and he still has an enormous zeal for social, political and economic development, Ranguma still has a lot to deliver to the people of Kisumu and Kenya at large.

Political figures of Ranguma’s calibre shouldn't remain calm for long. He should frequently engage in corporate social responsibility initiatives so as to serve the people of Kisumu on other platforms.

He has the capacity to foster the handshake, the big four agenda and proper distribution of resources in the lakeside county.

Despite him not holding an elective position, I strongly believe that Kisumu still needs his presence and contribution to leadership by frequently putting the current county administration on spot check.
