Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has announced that he is now settling down to prepare for his 2022 presidential candidature.
In an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday evening, the one time Vice President noted that his next move, in line with the same, entails strengthening the ANC party ahead of the much-anticipated contest.
The plan, he said, is to as well revive the ailing National Super Alliance (NASA) opposition block which he formed, adding that he will embark on scouting for new allies and political friends to better his chances.
''Right now I am working on strengthening the ANC party and engaging on negotiations with other people as we also strengthen the NASA alliance,'' disclosed Mudavadi who maintained that he must contest this time round.
He also maintained that NASA still exists despite its current woes which are largely emanating from sibling rivalry among member parties and coalition heads, saying that it only appears dead because it has changed tact on correcting the government.
''The problem is that many Kenyans only seem to acknowledge the existence of the opposition when it engages in picketing and violence,'' he said.
The opposition leader Raila Odinga-led side suffered a blow on January 30 when Mudavadi and co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula skipped Raila's mock Presidential coronation in Uhuru Park.
It's also suffering from Raila's March 9 reconciliation with President Uhuru Kenyatta, which was not well received by the trio.
Mudavadi's 2022 candidature comes after his loss in 2013 where he appeared third.
