Janice Ntinyari, the alleged lover of Meru Catholic priest Eutycas Murangiri has revealed what happened several hours before he was killed by an unknown person at the parking lot of an entertainment joint in Makutano, Meru county.
Ntinyari, 25, says that the two have been in a romantic relationship since she was 19.
She says, they visited their usual joint on Monday with the meeting expected to end in a night revelry as always.
In an interview with the Standard, Ntinyari said that on that day, the priest was unusually cheerful, and had brought along his friend named Valentine Kinoti.
The drinking started afterwards and proceeded until 10 pm when the lovers retired to a rented room.
According to Ntinyari, after enjoying themselves in the room, the father would leave alongside his friend to go buy some miraa outside, only for her to be woken up by the hotel manager that he had been stabbed to death at the parking.
"It was the hotel manager, he told me that Murangiri had been stabbed," she was quoted by the Standard.
The lady who is being held as a suspect has since denied any involvement in the killing, saying that she is equally shocked.
The family of the priest has insisted that it doesn't know her, though it has admitted knowing Kinoti, also a suspect.
“I wish to state that my son was not involved with any woman. We do not know her or where she is from,” said Dominicano Muthuri, the priest's father.
Also in the middle of the puzzle is Ntinyari's 5-month pregnancy which she, however, says belongs to a teacher.
The police believe that the priest was stabbed while returning to the hotel, while the hotel guard said that he was bleeding heavily after the ordeal.
