Is your friend dealing with depression? Handling depression can be tough for some people. You need to be careful when dealing with someone who is struggling with depression. There are some things that you can say that hurt someone with depression. Never say these four things to someone with depression
1. Assume all is well
Depression often affects people in different ways. A person who is depressed finds it hard dealing challenges we face in our daily lives. Do not expect someone under this condition to move on faster.
2. Cheer up
It might be his or her desire to look lively but there is nothing to smile about. A depressed person has no reason that can make him or her happy. Instead of telling him or her to cheer up, just support them in all ways you can manage.
3. You don’t seem depressed
Depression doesn't have to be written on his or her face. Some people struggle to look fine even when they are depressed. Just because he or she has tried to be strong doesn't mean he or she is not stressed.
4. You are not that badly off
Never tell someone who is depressed that he or she is not worse off. Although he is trying to be strong, remember all is not well. There are better ways to encourage someone who is depressed than telling him or her such words.
